Best Weekend Ever!!!

I just thought I would share with all of you that this has been the best weekend ever. There is really no reason (well Eric did just do the dishes). But as far as weekends go, this one is going down in the TOP 5.

We had so much fun with the family, friends, and exploring the new city we live in. Oh and also looking for new houses!!! Just thought I drop in and let you know over the past several months where heartache and pain has seem all that we have know, there is rest (and fun) for the weary! Thank you LORD!

The Machine from H E Double Hockey Sticks

So this morning we rallied the troops and went to the gym with our neighbors Larry an Sherry. They are so sweet and super encouraging. We gathered in the driveway at 8:30 AM, bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Last night they told us about the stairmaster and how it was the hardest thing at the gym. I had seen it before so I thought "why not"? Well now I know...

I got on that dumb thing for 4:45 and thought I would die. I had to get off. Unlike the other machines there is no pause, step off, or take a breather option. I got off cleaned the machine and when on to spinning. By the time I got on the bike my was still 169!!!

Sherry and Larry did it for 25 min. and it made me feel good that it took them almost 1 year to get to that point... so tomorrow I will shoot for 5:15... you know at 30 sec. increase might KILL me! Oh well!

In another note... we planted 2 more totmato plants today... if you don't have a Topsy Turvey, I HIGHLY recommend getting one... or two like we did! They are AWESOME. There are available at Wal-Mart, Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond... go right now and get one!

Watch out Tiger... oh FYI that is a REAL club, that dad cut down to "fit" JH. And he can knock the fire out of any and ALL golf balls!
** Washing Grandad's feet... our little servant, he has such a servants hearts I cannot wait to see what the LORD has in store for Him**

Dinner Tonight

I have already made my dinner for tonight, which is something i like to do while Eric is not here. Then when he gets home my mess is already cleaned up and we can just enjoy the family! This is a "regular" in the rotation of meals at the White House so I thought I would share. It is simple, easy, and yummy. Hope you all like it too.. let me know what you think!
Ingredients:

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's ® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (regular, 98% Fat Free or 25% Less Sodium)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
2 cup cubed cooked chicken
2 cup medium whole wheat egg noodles, cooked and drained
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 2 ounces)

Directions:

Stir the soup, milk, black pepper, vegetables, chicken, noodles and Parmesan cheese in a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

Bake at 400°F. for 25 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Stir the chicken mixture. Top with the Cheddar cheese.

He's Back...

Little man is back from his mini-vaca with Gigi and Grandad. He had a wonderful time, and I have already emailed them to send the pictures so I can share them with you. He loved every moment of it! I know he was wore out and it seemed liked Gigi and Grandad were nice and tired too.

I got a call this morning at 8 saying that the buddy was not doing well, and I should get on the road ASAP! So i brushed my teeth and headed out the door! Mom was thinking it might have been an ear infection! So we ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel and headed home. We went past home and went straight to the Little Clinic where Doc Maggie checked him out, Double Ear Infection along with a red throat. It was so sad. She told him to point to which face his ears felt like on this chart. And he pointed to at 10.. a sad face crying. Poor babe!

Anyhooo... he is sleeping upstairs now and has some good meds along with some wonderful numbing drops. Hopefully we can get on the meds before the weekend. Your prayers would be appreciated! As soon as Camp Pictures come to me I will post them!

Truthful Tuesday... Part 2

Whoever said, “sticks and stones my break my bones but words will never hurt me”, was an absolute idiot. And I can say that because it is my blog! Words are a deadly weapon. They can intentionally be used to hurt people, and if I am honest… I can be really good at doing so. The saddest part is, I am really good at using words against my husband. Sometimes words can be in jest, and sometimes there intentional to provoke feelings of worthlessness, inept, or just plain meanness. I was on the phone with a girlfriend last week and telling something stupid that Eric had done, and honestly making fun of something SMALL. She hit the nail on the head when she said, “I can see you are going to store that in your think tank for the next fight”. We both laughed, but the saddest thing is, she is right. I would take something so small and simple and use it in an argument against my husband just to belittle him. In the NAME OF JESUS…. LORD Break this cycle! Ladies, that is wrong. That makes us become life the wife of Job…. Let’s take a look.

Read Job 2:1-10

Here we see Job being tempted with painful sores. Now I digress a little (because I can) but when my sweet, loving, kind husband has even the smallest sniffle he is on his death bed. I cannot even imagine if he were cursed with sores from his head to his toes. I have no idea what Job and his wife’s relationship, but I have a hard time imagine that he did not complain to her during this period of sickness. However, she is not asking him to get over it, or grow up. His wife, the women he loves, is asking him to curse his GOD. I love how The Message says it, “Still holding on to your precious integrity, are you?” It just sounds like she is being sassy and condescending (I should know… I have been there, have you?) And Job says something back to her that just puts Miss Sassafrass back in her place… He told her, "You're talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days?"

So when you are having a bad day, and it seems like I am having A LOT these days, do you reflect on taking the good with the bad? I know I don’t! It is easier for me to dwell on the bad, have a pity party, and even bring others (mostly my husband) down with. And the way I do it best is my words. Sure there are lots of ways to do it, cold shoulder, turn elsewhere, with hold the things that are near and dear to your husband, etc. But words… its easy, its quick, and it last.

Ladies, today is the day. And tomorrow. And the next day. And if your like me 435 days from now…. This is the day we declare we are NO LONGER belittling our husbands with our words. AND WITH THE HELP OF JESUS we can do it. For heavens sakes he knew it would be hard. Read James 3:3-5 “A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!”

Today is the day, let positive words flow from yourmouth. Even in the midst of anger, hurt, or sadness, DO NOT LET the evil one win. Will you take the good with the bad? Right now email, text, message your husband and give him some positive reinforcement. With no strings attached. A quick I love you, thanks for all you do. I appreciate the fact you put the lid down (well not in my house) but you get the point. *** For those of you with kiddos, the more encouraging/positive words your child hears you speak to your spouse the more they will pick up on it and mirror what you do/say***

- So think on these things, how in the past 48 hours have you been like Job’s wife, and how have you been like Job?

- Are you willing to take the good days with the bad? Really???

PRAYER: Father, words are a powerful tool that you have given us. We rejoice with your child’s first words, we hold our vows of marriage sacred, we use our words to bring you praise. But today Father we come before your throne, begging you to remove all negative talk from our lives. Make us women who build up other, who encourage us, and who when it seems there is not light at the end of the tunnel cry out for you to be our mouthpiece. Today Lord, of vocabulary is yours. Use it as you see if. Thank you for loving us in spite of our weakness, and in that weakness please make us stronger! In your Precious and Holy name, Amen!

** FYI... I am without my child for 3 WHOLE days, so ladies/ anyone, if there is anything i can pray for you about ... and i do mean anything let me know. I have lots of plans to go spends lots of hours at the gym, a little window shopping, and basking with the Almighty... so on your behalf, what can I pray about?... if you don't want to comment you can email me kjwhite19880@gmail.com

Weekend Fun...

We have had a lot of fun this weekend just being together as a family... after a LOT of stress in our life (which is still there) it was good... NO GREAT just being together. Today we just relaxed and played beauty parlor after church and then Cory and Kelly invited us over for a little BBQ which did my spirits and heart well!

FYI... in Indianapolis they do NOT show the 500. Some weird thing but it is a black out. So we showed up to the cookout not even knowing who won! Apparently this guy did...

Congrats Helio~ must have been the wave from John Hunter and Nolan.

I said we had a beauty parlor and NO it was not JH's hair again, it was the doggies. The hair was causing me to LOOSE MY MIND! Well after SEVERAL calls to the groomers the cheapest we could find was $66 per dog. I don't need to tell you that is NOT in our budget. If we have an extra $130 bucks rest assured it is not going to the doggies. But the hair was just too much.

So in the words of the WonderPets.... TEAMWORK! Eric and I saved the dogs... here are a few snap shots! Enjoy!** NOTICE... Tye in the above picture peeking out thinking
"stupid pup, glad it is you and not me" Little did the Princess know**

*** This above picture is just HALF of ONE dog... it was a lot! And I do mean ALOT!***

Happy Memorial Day Friends... Remember those who serve/or have served our country!

Indianapolis 500 Parade

So today John Hunter and I were invited to go to the Parade with my friend from MOPS Katie and here little boy Nolan. It was a ton of fun. Now we had tickets through her dad, so we got in line and got an amazing box lunch for us and boys and lots of beverages because it was HOT.

We had AWESOME tickets... they were chairs and not bleacher seats and they were on the FRONT ROW in the shade! What a delight it was. I was anticipating a parade like in Lexington, a couple bands, the mayor, etc. No... not for the 500. We are talking star power. And JH an I loved every minute.

So here are some pictures of our fun times... I will try to get some of the ones from my phone on here:)

So here are some highlights in pictures:

AC Slater from Saved by the Bell OR Mario Lopez as some of you uncool people might know him!
Jan... from "the Office"

Josh Dummell from Las Vegas... Eric and I love that show!
Good ole' Gomer Pyle...Gollllleeeee!
Sweet John Hunter looking to see what or who is coming next...
And it was Danica Patrick... who leaned over and kissed my buddy on the head. I was so excited I will have to get the photo from Katie's camera!

Truthful Tuesday... Not that Girl!

So I have been thinking lately… since it is my blog I can write and do what I want. I love the “cutesy sayings” such as “Wordless Wednesday or Thankful Thursday” so I have decided to start my own. It will be a FIVE WEEK installment called “Truthful Tuesday”.

So here is what it is… I am going to write a “bible study” if you will, called “Not That Girl”. It will be based on Job’s wife… that’s a character that is not pulled out of the Bible everyday, huh? Let me give you a little background, I pride myself on a LOT of things, I can be creative, I can throw a fun party, my Son can sing lots of hymns, but a good wife, I am not sure that I ALWAYS fall in that category! It has been on my heart lately to share with ya’ll some things the LORD has been teaching me, and it is NOT just for you married women out there, these are timeless truths that span all generations and ALL women!…. So today we are just gonna start light… here’s to “Truthful Tuesday”!!!

When I mentioned we were said study about the book of Job what were the first thoughts that came to mind? For me I have so many thoughts: his nagging wife, this poor man, being tested, etc. In the past I put a black cloud around the life of Job, you know the one where you just think, this poor guy can’t catch a break? I have also put myself in that category as well. When things don’t go MY WAY, I think, oh I am being tested like Job, but then we read Job 1:1-5. Job is later in his chapter considered by God and to be blameless and upright, a man who shuns evil.

WOW…. I have never really heard that said about me. Now I am in no way saying that we deserve punishment for the degrees of our sins, but I am saying there are consequences for our actions. I am a FRIM believer that he has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west and that HIS GRACE is sufficient because of the cross. But think about, Job was blameless and pure and just wait and see what the evil one tested him with, and a will let you in on a secret…. He continued to praise and serve the ONE TRUE GOD when others just told him to throw in the towel… including his wife!

** I wrote this post last week, but in the middle of the night I felt prompted by the LORD to write this in. As many of you know we have not sold our house. We built that house as an investment and had a wonderful time doing it. We love our house, and I do me love. But the selling of it is taking a toll on our family in more ways than I would care to explain. I have said it before I feel as if we are being tested to see if we will choose to rely on the Maker of all things or just things. It seems our frustration begins to creep up after talking to the Realtor or knowing other houses are selling and then the evil one attacks. I just start to pick on Eric and he picks on me. Instead of both being in the same boat we play the “game” you know, my situation is worse than yours. Have you ever played it? We have tried to overcome on our own, but we can’t.

We have to DAILY, almost HOURLY die to ourselves. But it is so hard and I am so tired…but we are fervent in our trails. We believe that there will be rest under the shadow of HIS wings (Ps. 91). I love that chapter, the first verse says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will REST in the shadow of the Almighty”. Cling there, rest there. Know that in order to have a shadow you must have a sun. There is a light at the end of the tunnel you are walking down. And there is a sweet Savior who is walking with you.

So today, clear your mind, and answer these following questions… you can just mediate on them, write the down, or if you want, leave me a comment, I love hearing from you!

- What are some ways you feel like you are being tempted in this season of life? Are you listening to the lies of the evil one? The ones that he whispers and says, you’re not good enough, no one will ever love you, what you did is going to screw up your kids for the rest of their life? **** SISTER… know those are lies, you are free from his evil voice. And when you being to believe the, RUN to the Scripture, read it, bathe in it, and listen to it!

- Today find some time to spend in HIS word. For every lie you are believing about who you are or what role you are playing in the Kingdom, write down or read aloud one of God’s Truths. If you need help let me know… I will send them your way.

PRAYER: Father, today thank you for your word, for your Truth, and as hard as it hurts to type this, for the trails and testing that comes our way. Allow our trails to be sweet offerings that bring us to your feet and allow us to draw closer to you. Lord, we lay our hopes, desires, and longings before you. We trust that your ways are higher than ours and your plan is divine and ours is of limited knowledge. Let us rest in the peace and knowledge that you are ALL we need. When the rest of the things in the world pass away…. It is you who remains! Bless us O Father….Amen!

Haircut Happenings:)

We have had a great day with Gigi and Granddad here, we went to Indy 500 KidsFest and it was a blast. The weather was perfect, the company was perfect, and there was a LOT of fun had by all. There has been an ongoing discussion going on at our house RE: a mohawk! So we just walked by the "FREE HAIRCUT from Great Clips..." I am just going to let the pictures do the talking....

We said "NO"

So before we got in an "offer" war regarding our house... we said NO. We just didn't see how there was any way we could get to a middle ground since the offer was so far from where we started.... we countered and they countered back and we just said no.

Last night I told Eric that I was so sad that someone didn't get the house they wanted (kinda like JH's face in this picture), but then I realized, they were just trying to get a good deal. Oh well... so we are still faithful in prayer, trusting that the LORD will send the right buyers at the right price... will you join us??

We're Not Gonna Take it.... NO

Last night Eric and I were laying in bed and I thought what in the world they are winning. Here are the TWO MOST COMPETIVE people in the whole world and we are letting the Devil and his evil agents win. We are so tired, so over selling our house, dealing with finances, and just being robbed of our joy. I leaned over to Eric who was already sound asleep and just smiled. Here laid “sexy scuba Steve” because he had already put on his sleep apnea mask, I nudged him and said, “Do you think they are laughing at us right now?” He removed the mask and said, “Who?” The demons… (now I am not trying to get real theological here) but there is a battle or war that is RAGING, the war has been won, but each day the battle continues! A battle for our hearts, minds, marriages, families, anything that tries to lie to us about the FACT that we belong to a MIGHTY GOD…His promises are true, and their lies are not!

We both started to laugh and said, yep they are laughing. I am no longing letting them win. They have messed with the wrong Southern Belle! I am still without my van (well at least for the next few hours) and I have just bathed in the WORD of the Almighty. Isn’t it funny how that ALWAYS seems to work, but at least for me it is often a “last resort”?

The LORD has put two Scriptures on my heart over the past few days so I thought some of you might find them uplifting as well!

The first is John 10:10 “The thief has come to steal, kill, and destroy; I have some so that you may have life, and have it to the full”

The second is Psalm 94:18-19 “When I said, “Help, I am slipping” your love, O Lord, supported me. When the anxiety was TOO GREAT within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul!

As I type we are waiting for our first written offer to be emailed over…. So keep praying! His ways are HIGHER than ours, right?

** here is a cute picture of JH "reading".... at least the book is the right way!**

Nothing sweeter....

My friend Emily sent me these Scriptures yesterday to pray over John Hunter. It seems like my knees are so sore lately from all the prayer we have been doing, but there is no sweeter joy than praying for your kids lives. Amen!!!

I didn't just want Eric and I to pray these prayers we wanted to get JH involved. So I cut out shapes from construction paper and wrote a different Scripture inside each shape (will post pictures later.... little man is sleeping).

Anyhoo... thought you might want to pray these prayers over your child (or future) children!

PRAY

1. That John Hunter will know Christ as Savior early in life. (Psalm 6:3 and 2Timothy 3:15)

2. That John Hunter will be protected from the evil one in each area of his life...spiritual, emotional and physical. (John 12:15)

3. That John Hunter will have a responsible attitude in all his interpersonal relationships.

(Daniel 6:3)

4. That John Hunter will respect those in authority over him. (Romans 13:1)

5. That John Hunter will desire the right kinds of friends and be protected from the wrong

friends. (Proverbs 1:10-11)

6. That John Hunter will be kept from the wrong mate and saved for the right one.

( 2 Corinthians 6: 14-17)

7. That John Hunter will learn to totally submit to God and actively resist Satan in all

circumstances. (James 4:7)

8. That John Hunter will be single-hearted, willing to be sold out to Jesus Christ.

(Romans 12: 1-2 )

9. That John Hunter will be hedged in so he cannot find his way to wrong people or

that the wrong people cannot find their way to him. (Hosea 2:6)

10. Lastly, but very important, that John Hunter will have a hunger to know God and His Word!

Be Still My Soul....

This is where we are this day.... open and honestly, we need our house in Lexington to sell! I think I have mentioned before that our van is getting some cosmetic work done so we have been at home. I have drinking up the Truth of God's Word and playing with a fun loving, care free 2 year old. But my heart and soul are churning.

I was supposed to go on a trip this weekend, but I had to cancel because it was not the best uses of our finances. The LORD has me in His grip... what better place to be. But we are hurting, mentally, phyiscally. emotionally, and financially.

I am transparent with you all to say that today we have been told that me "MIGHT" have a written offer on our house, which is great. But the bad news is we have reason to believe it is considerably LESS that what we could take. We are trusting God... Be still my soul, right? We we are begging, more or pleading with you all to pray with us.... your prayers are appreicated!

Oh Bother....

So as many of you know we are in full out potty training... I am not sure who is getting more M&M's for going in the potty JH or me for putting up with this maddness. Yesterday he did AWESOME, however he stayed naked most of the day. We did take our first car ride with no diaper and that went well, but we did have one accident!

Today we got up and he went potty a couple of times and then we got our clothes on to go to the park. Kelly and Lydia came over to go to the park. We potty first and then walked across the street. He did awesome. Then while playing on the basketball court he just squatted and peed. So I took his shorts off and left him in his pee pee undies, t-shirt, and red crocs. We were a site that is for SURE!

All that to say i am over it... we have been stranded at home because our new van is getting some cosmetic things done to it... so we are on day 3 with no car! So I thought this would be a perfect time. I am certain that diapers cannot be more expensive than the laundry I have been doing. We are doing great on poop... but I think he just gets too involved and starts to pee!

Oh well... he is still a cutie right now eating "soup" which most call spaghetti o's! I am thrilled to not have to cook tonight. We are going to "Pizza with the Pastors" at church. Kind of a get to know the staff for new members... I am excited about it, and think it should be fun!

Sweet Memories

So I thought I would share with you some sweet pictures from this past week at home... I just love them! Enjoy!

It melted my heart

Today we picked up John Hunter from the 2 year old year at church and he came out with the biggest smile you have ever seen carrying this.

He said in only the sweet way his little voice can. "Happpppppppppy Mother's Day mommy! I love you". And I melted. I got the most beautiful roses yesterday but there was something about that green plastic cup with stickers and a plant sticking out of it that just made me melt! What a wonderful mother's day, and how blessed I feel to be apart of a church that made me feel so special!

Happy Mother's Day

I have always loved Mother’s day. Long before I was ever a mom it was fun holiday to celebrate. There are lots of things about this day I liked:

- I loved going to my Mammal’s house to celebrate her. We were never there alone seeing how she was a mother to 10 children.

- Or the fact we always gave my mom an orchid to wear to church.

- Back in the day the used to do a thing a church for the oldest “mum” and I always thought it was so cool to see who the oldest/newest mom was!

- When my Gran and Grandad moved to KY we would eat mother’s day brunch at “the home”. And it was so sweet to see all the elderly celebrate their lives as mothers.

- One year we were in Gatlinburg for a family reunion with my dad’s family and little did we know it was my Gran’s last Mother’s day.

- I graduated from college on Mother’s day which was a HUGE accomplishment for me as well as my mom!

Since being a mom my Mother’s Day has been nothing GREAT. The first one I was not even with JH seeing how we left him with my parents and we were driving home from MN from a wedding. The second Mother’s Day I was in the hospital, and today… well we will see!

What a fun day to celebrate moms. A thankless job that has so many job requirements, but it done out of pure love. I have been reading “Scared Parenting” and this book has been such a joy to me. Although it has made me take a closer look at my heart and my parenting, it is strengthened my relationship with my Maker. One of his main objectives is to help us realized that our kids probably best reveal whether or not our hearts are mirroring what God desires us to be. He writes the following:

How do I know if I’m keeping the first things first? C.J. Mahaney encourages every parent to ask their children this very insightful question “What do you think your daddy and mommy feel most passionate about?” If the gospel doesn’t come to mind, they may have picked up that we really care about avoiding embarrassment over their behavior, having a clean house, getting them into the best schools, or having a straight-A report card to boast about in the Christmas letter”

Ouch… did that hurt you like it hurt me? Just in case you were wondering that was on page 30… there are still about 200 more pages to go? So what is sacred to you this Mother’s Day? Of course the memories are and the mommies are, but what above all us do you hold dear? Remember God is the one who saw fit to bring that sweet child into your family. It may not have been the time, way, or plan that you had, but His ways are higher than ours! And maybe on this mother’s day you are missing someone who played that role….I know I am. Praise Him that I will be reunited with them on the streets of gold because they chose to let the light of Christ shine through them to me! So today as we celebrate MOMS… celebrate Him!

We are born, we die, and then we get out of the way. But those who hold parenting as a sacred journey, and treat it accordingly, will leave behind something wonderful and lasting!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I love you MOM!

A Much Needed Laugh...

Today I put on my facebook page that I was having a bad day. The reasons are just too many to list, but I was VERY encouraged my the number of people who were concerned. One was my sweet friend Kelly who I have met here in Indy.... (the girl from the library who is also in my MOPS group)

Anywhoo.... she called and left me the sweetest message, and I didn't want to call her back because I knew she was having date night with her hubby Cory! And her little princess was diagnoised with a double ear infection which means she hasn't had much sleep! I texted the following:

ME: Thanks so much for your call. I just wanted to throw Eric out the window. Glad Lydia is sleeping. You all going to church tomorrow?

KELLY: Did he ask you to move cities again, get another lab puppy, or make dinner? All equally bad. Yes church... see you then!

I have no idea, but this was just the laugh I needed. One more proof that God has a sense of humor:)

**PS... these flowers are from my hubby and son for mother's day,
but don't let them fool you! He still needed a kick in the tail"
